Ineffective visuals
Ineffective online visual elements often:
1. do not relate to the associated text and add little value to users
2. are added as an afterthought and aren't planned well
3. are too complex and try to achieve too much
4. stock photos or other decorative images with little relevance to anything else
5. are inconsistently applied throughout a website
Below are some examples that I've looked at in detail of ineffective online visual elements. Of course keep in mind that at least these examples come from communicators who are making an effort to incorporate visual elements into their work. The majority of information-based websites don't even try, which is far worse.
